Free phone charging

I was asked to create a poster and logo to promote the new phone charging service at McDonald's, a really simple brief and a really simple solution that was recognized at the One Show, Creative Circle, Eurobest and Kinsale Sharks.

The client liked that so much, they then briefed me again to create a full set of icons to be used in the UI of the new touch screens they were installing across every store, as well as a screensaver letting people now about the screens.

With the outside and windows covered we then moved indoors, where we used McDonald’s iconic trays to promote the phone charging service. We designed liners to sit in the tray that made it look like a giant smartphone, with a pop-up ‘low battery’ notification to carry the message.

To catch people when they were likely to be in need of recharging their phones, we also created a series of ambient executions that were placed in public spaces near McDonald's restaurants as a cheeky way to tell them about our useful new service.

Customer touchscreens were installed nationwide with a custom browser that had 5 functions, McDonalds home, shopping, games, news and social.
